The Sasse: Where love stories develop
between art and viewer

The National Association of Women Artists returns to the west coast, and we're delighted to welcome them to The Sasse for "Pacific Influence"—an exploration of how the Pacific region shapes our creative vision and stirs our hearts.

From the misty majesty of the Redwoods to the sun-warmed border, from rocky northern shores to golden beaches, from mountain ranges to desert valleys, the West Coast and its inland regions carry their own distinct light, their own rhythm, their own invitation to see differently. Here, the landscape doesn't just surround us—it seeps into our consciousness, coloring our memories and sparking our imaginations.

In "Pacific Influence," 56 artists interpret this vast regional experience through diverse expressions—landscapes that capture the spirit of place, portraits that reveal Western character, abstract works that distill the essence of light and form, and sculptures that give dimension to our connection with this land. These works invite you to discover your own connections—perhaps to a skyline that reminds you of home, a face that echoes someone you've known, a quality of light that speaks to something you've always felt but never quite named.

While this exhibition brings together works by NAWA members, the Pacific's influence ripples far beyond geography. Its pull is felt by artists and art lovers everywhere who have experienced this remarkable region and felt something shift within them.

Each visitor will discover something different, something personal, something that resonates in ways only they can fully understand. The Sasse: where love stories develop between art and viewer, one beautiful discovery at a time.

About the National Association of Women Artists

Founded in 1889, the National Association of Women Artists holds the distinction of being the first professional women's organization established in the United States. When five courageous women—Anita C. Ashley, Adele Francis Bedell, Elizabeth S. Cheever, Grace Fitz-Randolph, and Edith Mitchill Prellwitz—recognized the barriers facing women artists, they created something revolutionary: a supportive network and vital exhibition opportunities that opened doors previously closed.

More than 135 years later, NAWA continues championing women artists and fostering the kind of community where creativity and connection flourish.
