| We take this time to recognize and respect the Indigenous peoples who have existed on this land since time immemorial. We honor the generations that have gone before as well as the present-day Gabrielino-Tongva people as the traditional caretakers of Tovaangar which includes the area we now call Pomona. With humility, we recognize and respect all Indigenous peoples, their histories, and their ties to the land. All of California is Indian land. Unfortunately, the legacy of genocide has contributed to the erasure of California Indian people throughout the state. We also recognize the Chumash, Tataviam, Serrano, Cahuilla, Juaneño, Luiseño, Kuupangaxwichem/Cupeño, Kumeyaay and Ipai people for the land that occupies Southern California. Non-Tribal land throughout the state of California is unceded territory. By acknowledging the Indigenous people who have survived, despite extreme adversity, we respect and honor their strength. | ||||||
