Glen Waipa | President

Glen Waipa is a fine arts and commercial photographer from Hawaii. Studied photography at California State University Long Beach and graduate of Riverside College Photography Program. A retired law enforcement officer with extensive experience in crime scene and forensic photography. “My photographic interest is in still-life with modern Realism, abstract and asymmetrical, yet depicting inanimate objects in a life like situation. I am interested in the textures and shapes of the objects and how they create visual interests with lights and shadows.”

Gene Sasse | Executive Director / Treasurer

Gene is a long time commercial, fine art photographer in Southern California, adjunct Professor and the founder of the Sasse Museum of Art. His work has been featured in numerous magazines, book and many other publications. In 2013 Gene founded the Inland Empire Museum of Art with a desire to provide more opportunities for the community to bring their families to enjoy art that’s free to the public. In 2019 the name of the museum was changed to the Sasse Museum of Art. The museum has a permanent collection of well over 1,400 objects and is developing a strong international reach.

Joe Oakes

Joe has been painting full time since 2008 and like other artists, previously worked at other things including substitute teacher, art consultant and graphic designer. Oakes has survived cancer and the loss of a child and has used these life changing events to propel his art career forward. His landscapes burn with the excitement of bold, bright color and draw on scenes from all over the U.S. but especially the Southwest and the state of California. Oakes’ work offers a new perspective on color and place while offering a meditative sense of calm, happiness and
reverence for the land. He holds a BFA from California State University, Fullerton.

Ginger Lai

Dr. Ginger Lai was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan.  She immigrated to the US when she was sixteen years old.  She lunched the Gingi™ Cellular Revitalizing system in 2003. In 2017, she launched a new Gingi™ lifestyle line of products, featuring vegan and non-GMO color cosmetics. Dr. Lai has a passion for fine arts and has been exhibiting her artwork and jewelry design in galleries and museums in America and globally. In addition to founding and running Gingi™. Dr. Lai has many awards for being an Entrepreneur and Business. Dr. Lai is a doctor of clinical psychology, having earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in Malibu in CA.

Joyce Nugent

 

Joyce is a fine art photographer, documentary photographer and freelance photojournalist best known for her four-part photo essay “Nothing Happens Without Water,” which documents the Colorado River crisis and its impact on Southern California. Her first photographs, taken as a nine-year-old, of her family and a once-in-a-lifetime snowstorm, taught her the power of photography to tell a story. Although Joyce has been self-taught for a large part of her photography journey, she formally studied photography at the University of California Sacramento and the Riverside College Photography Program after retiring. “I am happiest when my camera lives at the end of my arm. I am always inspired by what shows up in that ‘space for grace’ that exists in front of my lens. I want my photographs to tell the truth about the realities people have forgotten, refuse to see or evade.”
